Visual Basic Applications

Group Policy Management Tool - Application developed to enable fast manipulation of OU group policy links.  Includes features such as copying and pasting group policy links from one OU container to another.  This programs works on any domain.  (20.0 KB)

Visitor Impact Estimating Tool - Program developed with the ideas of Dr. Michael Little, Pete Glass, and the mathematics of Dr. Judy Silver.  This application is designed to teach individuals about the impact visitors have on the environment and about equations and graphs.  The user is then able to construct his/her own virtual trail system using the guidelines presented.  I am responsible for all coding, development of line equations, and the production of all graphics with the exception of the three data sets and the main trail image that was developed by Robert Rowe. (32.0 MB)

DNA Model - Program developed using the ideas of Dr. Michael Little to simulate the process of making a DNA fingerprint using electrophoresis.  I am responsible for all coding of the program. (30.6 MB)

Update AD User Profile - Simple tool that allows a domain logged-on user to update his/her personal profile information without having the windows adminpak installed.  This tool only works for domains that leave users in the default domain users container! (12.0 KB)

ImageAnalyzer - Imaging application that allows basic photo editing in addition to allowing individuals to analyze imagery to determine the coverage percentages in a given area.  I am responsible for the development and coding of the application. (4.68 MB)

MeasureItRight - Application used to measure objects in an imaged based upon a known length.  I am responsible for all the code and development of the application. (5.63 MB)

GIS

ArcIMS Projects - Constructed all GIS projects on this site and published them using ArcIMS.  All projects on this site were performed in collaboration with the IST department and Marshall University.

Skidmore Farm - Adobe PostScript document showing an AutoCad drawing in the NAD27 coordinate system superimposed over 1-meter CIR aerial photography constructed in ArcView 8.2.  The area is a family farm in Webster Springs, WV, originally owned by one of my ancestors, John B. Skidmore.  I am responsible for all of the development of the project, with the exception of the AutoCad drawing which was performed by Allegheny Surveys, Inc. of Birch River, WV.  For best performance, save the document on your computer before viewing--for example, in Internet Explorer right-click on the link and choose "Save Target As..." (10.6 MB)  This project has also been posted online at http://gis.marshall.edu/arcims/SkidmoreFarm.

UCMIC - This is a website focused on the Underground Coal Mining Interpretive Center located near Beckley, WV, and demonstrates the use of AutoCad drawings with ArcGIS projects.  I am responsible for the development of all images and for the development of the site which was constructed for the Appalachian Transportation Institute (ATI).  (online)

Integrating AutoCad & ArcView - Adobe PostScript document of a PowerPoint presentation instructing people how to integrate AutoCad drawing with ArcView projects.  I am solely responsible for the construction of this presentation, which I presented at a GIS conference at Marshall University in the Spring of 2002.  (9.56 MB)

Aerial Photo Browser (formerly known as REPETE GIS) - GIS website containing a variety of GIS data pertaining to West Virginia.  The site is mainly database driven and contains a several coding languages including ASP, PERL, and Java.  This site allows users to actively view satellite imagery before downloading them for personal use.  I am responsible for all development and management of the site.  (online)

Cheat Minnow Distribution Report, Cheat Minnow Distribution Presentation - Adobe PostScript documents containing the information on GIS research pertaining to the taxonomic status of the cheat minnow.  Brooke Schlenker and I are responsible for all GIS work and for the construction of the report and presentation.  Prior to the GIS research, I performed genetic research on the mitochondrial DNA of the cheat minnow (Rhinichthys bowersi), and the possible parental fish, the longnose dace (Rhinichthys cataractae) and the river chub (Nocomis micropogon) in conjunction with Wes Gladwell.
